Jarnac is a town and commune in the French département of Charente. The town is situated on the right bank of the river Charente between the towns of Angoulême and Cognac.

Jarnac also houses a fascinating collection of objects offered to the former French president, Francois Mitterand, (“la donation Francois-Mitterand”), on his travels around the world. M Mitterand was born in Jarnac, and his family home is now a museum. He lies buried in the Mitterand family tomb in the local cemetery.
